About

Education on the health and livelihood of every Filipino family and of the country is inseparable. These three factors, education, health, and livelihood affect each other. That is why in this pandemic, there has been a big struggle for everyone on how to deal with this issue. Schools are currently in the middle of their school year for 2020-2021 already. There were various ways of offered mode of learning just like the online, blended and modular learning. Despite that, many have not still adjusted and struggling for the new normal of education. There was still some raise about the call for #AcademicFreeze in which it indeed makes sure that no one would be left behind, but looking at the big picture, it will only be a band aid or a temporary solution to the current situation and not solve the root of the education related problem. So, this is where the movement for Ligtas na Balik Eskwela occur.

What does this campaign promote?

This movement is to protest to push for more concrete plans for the opening of schools. Everyone one including the teachers, parents and students will suffer if DepEd plans to open the class for the S.Y. 2021 – 2022 without the full government making the necessary preparations. Therefore, we call on the government to make the following preparations before opening the class:

  1. Resolve the health and livelihood crisis!

  2. Make schools safe

  3. Ensure access and quality of education

  4. Protect the right to work

  5. Conduct a democratic consultation
